Crohns, colitis, and…poetry?
Wow, two posts in one week. Go me!
I will admit that I’m not always the most humorous when it comes to talking about IBD…
So, purely for kicks, I composed a poem that many of us might relate to. Enjoy.
A is for abscess, a serious worry.
B is for bathrooms, and running to them in a hurry.
C is for cramping, it can feel like passing broken glass.
D is for diarrhea, which can explode from your ____.

E is for enemas, those god-awful kits.
F is for flares, and being at the end of your wits.
G is for GI docs, there are good ones and bad.
H is for hospitals, and long stays driving you mad.

I is for inflammation, a common condition.
J is for journey, of healing and remission.
K is for the killer pain that makes you clench your jaw.
L is for lab work, and the blood that they draw.

M is for mental health, which can be put to the test.
N is for nurses, who are often the best.
O is for operations, those surgical cuts.
P is for prednisone, which can literally make you nuts.

Q is for quality of life, which can really suck.
R is for resilience, when you are down on your luck.
S is for scopes, they are awkward at best.
T is for trauma, and feeling real stressed.

U is for ulcers, and a sore behind.
V is for vomiting, the projectile kind.
W is for weight loss, and dropping the pounds.
X is for Xeljanz, a new-ish biologic making the rounds.

Y is for “you got this”, you are a strong-as-hell person.
Z if for Zofran, when the nausea starts to worsen.
Remember, sometimes you have to look on the lighter side and take things less seriously. I don’t always follow my own advice but I’m trying.
Take care of yourselves.
